Remembering the Day of Independence

With Independence Day just passing I was reminded of how this day of celebrations has effected my family, my partners, and myself. With the Agricultural Bill being signed into law and changing the regulations for hemp, we changed our direction and started this new business. We did it for several reasons, to help others, to change our own lives, and in my family’s case, to replace the business that my wife and I closed last year. We did a lot of research and met with people in hopes of finding a supplier to partner with. We decided to go with Organic Hemp Botanicals because their extracts are amazing, organic, and pure. To top it off Rebecca and Eric are great people also. We also have several other lines of products which all have a great feel, but Rebecca and Eric's product started it all.

You may ask what does any of this have to do with Independence Day. We as Americans do have the ability to change our lives and start down new pathways. Are these paths easy? Definitely not! But with hard work, fortitude, and a little luck these decisions can work out. I have been told that I was lucky, but I would disagree, while luck has had a little influence, I would arguably say sacrifice, effort, and hard work, played more of a part than luck. Not every decision was correct nor even effective, but we tried.

With the regulations being so new for hemp products, we are still struggling with some issues. One of the biggest issues being a lot of misinformation. While we may not know everything, we read, research, and listen to our customers. We want to hear customers results with our products. This allows us to inform others with true results and unbiased information. While the FDA are dragging their feet on regulations, causing more issues, but that’s for another blog post.

Second even with hemp being legal, legislation is still questionable. Banking is still an issue because hemp is cannabis.  The legal difference, because of the 2018 Agricultural Bill, between hemp and marijuana is the amount of THC allowed. Hemp must contain less than .30% THC. This is the intoxicating cannabinoid or compound contained in cannabis.

Most hemp producers and retailers have had trouble accessing basic financial services that have been available to businesses in other sectors. This includes being able to maintain bank accounts and process credit cards.  Due to this, most are flying under the radar by not telling the truth about customer purchases, products sold, and company names. We feel this does not legitimately put our business in a positive light.

So how do we change this? We change it by demanding change.  This happens by calling, emailing, or visiting our “chosen” legislators.  Remember our forefathers stood up to oppression and fought for change. They thought that change was so important , that they were willing to sacrifice so many things, including their lives. I’m not advocating revolution, but... more change is needed.

We want to bring you legal options for your healthcare. You deserve the right to choose products that are not only safe and regulated, but those that fit your lifestyle, needs, and budget. These decisions should not be left to legislation alone. We as citizens, need to continue to demand, not ask, for products we need and those that we want.

We have the right, not the duty and obligation to help force this change.  I believe all religions talk about helping others, sacrifice, and giving ourselves to a higher service.  Can you think about any better way to give then picking up the phone and asking for change to help someone you may never meet?  Help someone that may never be able to tell you thank you? Can you make that sacrifice? We can. We are fighting for your rights and we will continue to due so.

In closing I will leave you with a few of my favorite quotes from Thomas Jefferson.

“I’m a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.”

“I predict future happiness of Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”

Take care and have a great day.

Kevin
